Choctaw County Garbage Pick-up Totals for 2016

The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office collected 42,200 pounds (21.1 tons) of garbage and 55,080 pounds (27.54 tons) of scrap tires along the roadways in the county. The garbage pickup program began in January 2016 and the scrap tire program began in May 2016. The scrap tire program was initiated through a contract between the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office. The pickup program is supervised by an employee of the Sheriff’s Office and uses select inmates to collect the roadside garbage.
