First Warrant Roundup A Success

IMG_0356

A warrant roundup was conducted in Choctaw County on Friday, May 12, 2017.  Many aspects of this warrant initiative continued thru Sunday, May 14, 2017.  A total of 14 people were arrested.  A total of 33 warrants were cleared through this effort. The oldest warrant executed dated back to 2007.  Of those arrested, nine were booked into the Choctaw County Jail, one was transported directly to the Washington County Jail on a Washington County warrant, and four were transported to the Gilbertown City Hall where their warrants were cleared there.  The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office currently has more than 1,200 outstanding warrants, many of which are very old.  During future initiatives of this nature, safety check points will be established throughout the county.  All law enforcement agencies in Choctaw County were invited to participate.  Participants included the following: Gilbertown Police Department, Butler Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Pardons and Parole, Alabama State Troopers, and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office.  The success of this event is evident because we were able to get a modified sawed-off shotgun and methamphetamine off the streets of our county.  We will be conducting more warrant roundup’s in the very near future.  In doing so, we will involve more officers from the Alabama Pardons and Parole, Alabama State Troopers, and we will invite the other neighboring sheriff’s offices to participate.  If neighboring sheriffs choose to participate, they can do so by bringing the outstanding warrants they have on Choctaw County residents and in turn these residents would be picked up and held in the Choctaw County Jail until extradition is complete or they may be transported directly to the neighboring county jail.  Sheriff Scott Lolley would like to personally thank all agencies involved with this initial endeavor.
