Tips lead to stolen vehicle recovery

On Friday, March 1, 2019, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip about the location of a stolen truck and trailer in the Scott Mountain Community.  The truck and trailer was stolen in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.  Deputies responded to investigate and confirmed the stolen property.  On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office faxed a copy of a warrant on the suspect, Jimmy Scott Williamson.  That same day, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip as to Williamson’s location.  Deputies located Williamson on Hurricane Road.  Williamson was arrested  for Theft of a Motor Vehicle from Lauderdale County, Mississippi and on outstanding warrant in Choctaw County, Alabama for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.  Williamson was transported to the Choctaw County Jail where he remains.  He will answer to charges from Choctaw County, Alabama and then he will later go through extradition steps before being returned to Lauderdale County, Mississippi.
